Products Used

Site accommodation complex comprising 1 x 32’ Eco Office Unit, 1 x 32’ Eco Meeting Room, 1 x 32’ Kitchen/Office Unit, 1 x 32’ Eco Canteen, 1 x 32’ Eco Drying Room, 1 x 16’ Portable Toilet and 1 x 21’ Store

Balfour Beatty were working in the live substation and required office and welfare facilities for Balfour Beatty operatives working on the site.

The Challenge

As a fully operational sub-station the site is very strictly controlled and there is limited space, so it was essential to devise an accommodation solution that made the most of the space available. It was essential to arrange for a stand-by operative to be on-site during the installation.

The Solution

Our site contacts were originally considering the use of 2’ links in an office and welfare set-up, but due to the space restrictions, we recommended that the accommodation units were butt linked to save space. After showing the client photographs of past projects, it was agreed that this would be the best way forward. We provided several accommodation units from our Bellshill Accommodation service centre, providing office, meeting room, kitchen, canteen, storage and toilet facilities. A number of the units were manufactured to a full eco specification, offering environmental benefits such as fully insulated floors, walls and doors, plus convector heaters with timers to offer optimum efficiency. As there was no holding area for wagons, we arranged for delivery drivers to be on site one hour apart.

The Results

The accommodation complex was of high quality, fit for purpose and provided extensive office and welfare facilities despite the limited space available.
