A-Plant Acquires McCarthy & Stone Accommodation

A-Plant Accommodation specialises in the provision of temporary site accommodation and is able to offer a full range of products from a single toilet through to a complete contractors’ village. The addition of this fleet is in line with A-Plant’s strategy to continue to grow its fleet and build on its platform as one of the largest Accommodation providers in the hire market.

McCarthy & Stone is the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, with the largest share of the owner-occupied market. The Group buys land and then builds, sells and manages high-quality retirement developments.

A-Plant’s Director of Accommodation, Ian Needham said: “We are delighted to develop our relationship with McCarthy & Stone. They are divesting their Accommodation fleet due to impressive growth plans which would have meant a large element of hired site accommodation being necessary.  Their fleet complements our existing range perfectly and have a significant amount of experience in this area, and have acquired a number of accommodation fleets from contractors over the years. Given our extended range and national coverage from 11 locations, we are able to offer a full site solution and remove the need for customers to own their own fleet.”

McCarthy & Stone’s Director of Communications, Paul Teverson added: “We have a long standing working relationship with A-Plant Accommodation and are pleased to continue and broaden our association by signing this 5-year agreement. A-Plants expertise, extensive product range and national Service Centre network further supports our housebuilding programme and brings value to both partners.”

Earlier this year, A-Plant Accommodation placed one of its largest ever single orders for static and mobile welfare units, worth £3.2 million and will invest a further £8 million over the next 12 months.

A-Plant Accommodation offers a hire fleet of over 16,000 units, from a single cabin to fully linked site complexes. The range of temporary accommodation available includes mobile and static welfare units, green specification accommodation units, secure stores, fire certificated accommodation and multi-combination offices, canteens, drying rooms, toilets and shower units.
